What makes BRAIN MAZE special?
BRAIN MAZE's escape rooms are 100% original. You won't find anything similar anywhere else in the world – at least that's what experienced groups that visit us say :)
You can expect immersive environments, stimulating challenges, and unforgettable moments!
We currently have two locations in Coimbra. At BRAIN MAZE Baixa, the games are closely linked to the history, settings, and characters of the city of Coimbra. At BRAIN MAZE Magalhães, however, the themes are a little different: horror and crime.
BRAIN MAZE was born in Coimbra in 2015, and since then, we've locked in over 4,000 groups! Will you join our legion of fans?
Maximum game duration ⏷
The goal of the escape room is to escape in under 60 minutes. However, the average time groups spend at Brain Maze is about 1 hour and 30 minutes. This is because it includes a briefing, a debriefing, and time for a group photo.
Number of players ⏷
The minimum number of players is 2 and the maximum is 6.
In our experience, groups larger than 6 tend to lead to chaotic games, communication breakdowns, and lower motivation.
For groups of up to 12 people, our two games at BRAINMAZE Baixa will allow them to split into two groups and play different games simultaneously.
Recommended age ⏷
The Brain Maze challenges were designed for ages 14-15 and older.
The minimum age to enjoy the experience is 10-11 years old. Even so, players in this age group usually need a lot of help, so we always recommend that an adult be presence. Otherwise, a Brain Maze monitor will provide closer supervision of the group, offering additional clues and hints from outside the room via walkie-talkie when necessary.
Younger children may participate, but they must be part of a mixed-age group with older children and/or adults.
Who can play ⏷
Families, friends, colleagues, tourists. It doesn't matter if their interests, educational backgrounds, or ages are very different – you’ll discover that those differences can actually be an advantage when solving the puzzles. As a team, everyone complements each other.
Our tips ⏷
Pay attention to every detail, artifact and sign, and interact with everything in the room.
Activate your visual memory, because some items you see or handle in the first few minutes may prove useful later.
Don't overlook any achievement, piece of information, or unlocked object. They may be the missing link you need to move on to the next stage.
Think and act as a team, taking advantage of the diversity and skills of each member of the group.
Security ⏷
Access to the area outside the game room will always be unlocked for safety and evacuation purposes. All players are covered by personal accident insurance.
Game monitoring ⏷
During the game, players will be monitored by the Brain Maze team via CCTV installed in the rooms. (no recording). No one gets lost in our maze of puzzles!
Game languages ⏷
The games are in Portuguese or English. Our monitors speak both languages.
Delays ⏷
In case of a delay, any game scheduled for the following time slot cannot be affected and must start promptly as scheduled.

Cancellations ⏷
Unexpected things happen, and plans may change too. If we’re notified in advance, there's no problem at all!
Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours before the game starts, via email info@brainmaze.pt or WhatsApp (+351) 926 763 116.
Cancellations less than 3 hours before the start of the game must be made by phone at (+351) 926 763 116.
